That’s how I described Daniel Brook’s prose style in my review of The Trap.
I’d say the same description applies to his review of Gregory Clark’s A Farewell to Alms in the latest Nation. Go read it. It’s priceless.

i think Brooks’s book is one of the most important, relevant, and timely books i’ve read in forever. i recommend it to every 20-something/30-something i know. it really touches nerves for everyone who reads it...since they see themselves so clearly in it. If you’re reading this comment and haven’t read it. go out and do it!
